Kodiak Local Government Reviews and Approves Bycatch Management Letter

The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly and Kodiak City Council recently put their final stamp on a letter which would provide community input on Gulf of Alaska trawl bycatch management to the North Pacific Fishery Management Council.

After a fast start to the season, the Bristol Bay halibut fishery is slowing down.
BBEDC Regional Fisheries Director Gary Cline tracks the landings in Area 4E, which is fished by local small boat fishermen. He said the early May catch was higher than it has been in nearly a decade.
