The LOF for 2024 reflects new information on interactions between commercial fisheries and marine mammals. NMFS must classify each commercial fishery on the LOF into one of three categories under the MMPA based upon the level of mortality and serious injury of marine mammals that occurs incidental to each fishery. The classification of a fishery on the LOF determines whether participants in that fishery are subject to certain provisions of the MMPA, such as those on registration, observer coverage, and take reduction plan (TRP) requirements. https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2023/09/13/2023-19721/list-of-fisheries-for-2024 FYI’s Alaska Salmon Research Task Force will meet Sept. 19, Nov. 14-15 Cordova Times by Margaret Bauman - September 11, 2023 Online registration is now open for the Sept. 19 webinar meeting of the Alaska Salmon Research Task Force, which is mandated to review and report on research about Pacific salmon in Alaska. https://www.thecordovatimes.com/2023/09/11/alaska-salmon-research-task-force-will-meet-sept-19-nov-14-15/ Hatcheries will be focus of Oct. 14 fisheries board meeting Cordova Times - September 12, 2023 Members of the Alaska Board of Fisheries will hold a two-day work session Oct. 12-13 in Anchorage, followed by a meeting of its hatchery committee Oct. 14. https://www.thecordovatimes.com/2023/09/12/hatcheries-will-be-focus-of-oct-14-fisheries-board-meeting/ Pacific Seafood Processors Association 1900 W Emerson Place Suite 205, Seattle, WA 98119 Phone: 206.281.1667 E-mail: admin@pspafish.net; Website: www.pspafish.net Our office days/hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.
