Alaskan Seafood Takes Center Stage on Master Chef Indonesia
SeafoodNews by Natasha Estremera - April 13, 2026
Alaskan seafood took center stage on one of Indonesia's most popular cooking shows, Master Chef Indonesia, in a high-stakes culinary competition.
During the season finale, which aired March 15, finalists were challenged to create a dish showcasing their culinary expertise using a variety of wild-caught Alaskan seafood, including sockeye, coho, and keta salmon, sablefish, Alaska pollock, yellowfin sole, and halibut presented by the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI).
US Under Secretary of Agriculture for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Luke J. Lindberg appeared as a judge and emphasized the responsible management of Alaska's fisheries and the global value of Alaskan seafood.
Competitor Monica Bunga impressed the judges with her dish, Mangut Black Cod, an Indonesian-inspired ceviche made with smoked black cod, and finished as season runner-up.
Overall winner Stephani Meyerson earned the grand prize and will attend ASMI's International Culinary Retreat in Alaska in 2027, where she will collaborate with global chefs and industry professionals while gaining firsthand knowledge of Alaskan seafood.
The successful collaboration underscores ASMI's ongoing commitment to elevating Alaskan seafood on the global stage and inspiring culinary innovation.
