First, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners are announced in each of the above three categories, and an additional six more awards are given: Grand Prize, Salmon, Whitefish, Seattle People’s Choice, Juneau People’s Choice and the Bristol Bay Choice. The Bristol Bay Choice was awarded for the first time in 2022 to the outstanding value-added product from Bristol Bay Sockeye, helping to raise awareness of high-quality products from the Bristol Bay region. The first round winners will be accounted Friday, Nov. 18, 2022 following a gala Seattle Open House on November 16 at the Bell Harbor Conference Center. Co-hosted by Northwest Fisheries Association, the products will be prepared and displayed by professional culinary staff. An Open House will follow the judging, for all entrants, seafood industry invitees, sponsors, the press and the judges. The results of the judges' evaluations will be tabulated and held in confidence by a third party for announcement at the Awards Ceremony in Juneau. The next event will be an awards ceremony in Juneau on February 23, 2023, co-hosted by United Fishermen of Alaska. There, the display and sampling of products by the Alaska Legislature and other special guests will raise awareness of seafood's relevance and the industry's innovation across the state. Visit the AFDF website for more information about the Symphony, including sponsorship opportunities and upcoming dates. First-place winners from each category, plus the Bristol Bay Choice, will receive booth space at the distinguished SENA in Boston and entry into their national new product competition, the Seafood Excellence Awards, as well as airfare to and from the show provided by our sponsor, Alaska Air Cargo.
