Lawsuit says new salmon rules will harm Alaska communities
The complaint argues the Alaska Board of Fisheries ignored its own scientific record and adopted salmon rules that will sharply reduce sockeye harvests and destabilize local economies.

Alaska fishing and Tribal organizations, along with the Aleutians East Borough, have filed a complaint in Alaska Superior Court warning that newly adopted commercial salmon regulations will cause “significant financial and emotional harm” to fishermen, families and communities across the Alaska Peninsula by cutting fishing time and area, reducing sockeye harvest, and forcing costly gear changes.
