US Alaska pollock harvesting and management group Global Seas has acquired the F/V Alyeska, increasing the company's inshore harvesting quota.The 125-foot vessel is part of the Northern Victor Fleet Cooperative, and has around 7,200 metric tons of inshore pollock quota, Global Seas President Jeb Towne told IntraFish.

The global supply of key wild whitefish is projected to fall by 145,000 metric tons next year, driven by significant declines in both cod and pollock harvests, according to the forecast released at the 32nd Groundfish Forum held in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday.
