Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez Tours Pacific Seafood's Woodland, Washington Processing Hub

SeafoodNews by Ryan Doyle - October 2, 2026

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA) toured Pacific Seafood's Woodland, Washington facility this month as part of a day of visits across Cowlitz and Clark counties, according to a post on her official House website.

The Woodland plant processes and distributes locally caught seafood for shipment nationwide, and the congresswoman used the stop to meet with employees and discuss permitting predictability, support for working waterfronts, and regional seafood supply chains, per the release.

"Working waterfronts are kitchen table issues for us in Southwest Washington," Gluesenkamp Perez said. "Nobody wants a waterfront with only yachts and tents, but if we don't stand up for the people who make their living on the water that's what we'll get."

The visit ties into broader legislative work: Gluesenkamp Perez said she worked through the appropriations committee this year to prioritize local and regional seafood in the National School Lunch Program, and she co-sponsors the Local Farmers Feeding Our Communities Act, which would establish cooperative agreements linking local producers — including seafood processors — with local food distribution organizations.
